Parking lots for the Library and City Offices are currently under construction. Customer parking next to the buildings may be limited during this time. SW Seneca Street is now open, and the new south parking lot (accessible from Seneca St.) is open for library and city office customer parking. Construction has moved to the north parking lot next to the Library. When visiting us please use extra caution in this construction zone.
Work is Being Done on the Crosswalks - Updated January 15
The new crosswalk at Seneca and Martinazzi Avenue is now open and the traffic signal has been turned on. The contractors are installing raised crosswalks with pavers (similar to the table top intersection at the corner of the Barbara Johnson store). This will require closure of the crosswalks highlighted in red. The crosswalk and roadway near the city offices (See the orange arrow) will be closed beginning January 15. Cars will not be able to get through this area unless they enter or exit from Barngrover or go around the Cabela’s store. This is shown in the green detour route. This work is expected to be completed by January 20. Following the completion of the work at the crosswalk at Barngrover, they will close the crosswalk at Seneca Street. When the one at the end of Seneca Street is closed (See the black arrow), the detour route will be through the south parking lot shown by the blue dotted line. This work is scheduled to be completed by January 27. The detour routes will allow customers to access the drive-thru book drop and the utility payment box. This work is all dependent on the weather, so these dates could change and staff will be notified accordingly. Please look for the updated signage to direct you safely to City buildings.
Where Can You Park?
The City asks that you please use the new south lot or one of our other public parking lots off of Martinazzi Ave. or Lower Boones Ferry Rd. We want our customers to be safe during this time of construction, so please use extra caution, cross at the designated crosswalks, and make eye contact with drivers before crossing the street to make sure they see you in the crosswalk. For those with disabilities, there are ADA spaces available in the lot behind the Library. Please be sure to use these public lots, and do not use the Nyberg Rivers Shopping Center parking lots for Library or City business. Thanks for your cooperation!
When Will the Construction End?
We are all excited for the construction to be completed. This is a tricky time of year with the weather, but we hope to have the north parking lot open in mid to late February. When the parking is completed we will have over 90 spaces for our Library and City customers!
The City appreciates your patience during this construction process. Check the website for regular updates on this construction. Questions? Email email@example.com or call (503)691.3065.

In January 2014, the City Council voted to proceed with extending Seneca Street in conjunction with the construction of the Nyberg Rivers development (former Kmart site). Discussion of the street and relocation of the Council Building has been discussed in many plans over the years including the City's Transportation System Plan (TSP) adopted in 2013 and the City's Central Urban Renewal District (CURD) Plan. The extension of the street and the addition of a traffic signal at SW Seneca Street and SW Martinazzi Avenue will improve circulation and pedestrian safety and will provide better access to the Nyberg Rivers development, Tualatin Library and City Offices. You can learn more about this development by visiting the Nyberg Rivers Project Page.
What's Next? City Facilities Study
The City Council has asked staff to begin work on a comprehensive long range Civic Facilities Study. You can learn more about the study here: City Facilities Study.
Public meetings were held in March and April to discuss the parking designs for the City Offices and Library. Based on the input at these meetings, the parking design was revised and the new conceptual design is available for review. The improvements will also include a traffic signal at SW Martinazzi Avenue and SW Seneca Street and pedestrian crosswalks across both streets. The concept designs are available to download by clicking the links on the page below.
