Tualatin Commons is a highly successful public/private partnership which has created a vibrant heart to downtown Tualatin. This 19-acre site in the center of town formerly housed an operating, aromatic, pet food factory fronting on a major arterial. The Tualatin Commons project consists of a three-acre manmade lake surrounded by a wide public promenade, plazas and an interactive fountain. Seven parcels have been privately developed around the lake, bringing in uses which would not have located in a suburban downtown without the public amenity: hotel, urban housing, Class A offices, and restaurants.
