Exercise, play, compete and relax in over 200 acres of well-maintained parks, trails and natural areas. Specially designed environments and programs support the interests of young children and adolescents. The Juanita Pohl Center encourages life-long growth, sharing and caring. Signage in parks tells stories of Tualatin's past, and alerts us to the presence of nearby wildlife.
Whether you are looking for recreation, mutual support, relaxation, fitness activities or learning, Tualatin has something for you. The benefits are endless! Tualatin parks are open from sunrise to sunset.

Trail User Counts
The Portland metropolitan area is supported by a system of regional parks and trails that connect people to natural areas and wildlife, transit, schools, shopping and jobs. The growing network of bicycle and pedestrian pathways boosts the region's tourism activities, offers recreational opportunities and helps the region grow in a way that improves livability and reduces energy dependence. Trail counts and surveys help maintain and increase these benefits by tracking usage, trail conditions and future demand.
Counting automobiles and transit users has been a well-established practice for years, but until now, there has not been a consistent effort to do the same for bikers and walkers. The lack of data is part of the reason why these transportation modes receive less transportation funding. An answer to this need for data is the National Bicycle & Pedestrian Documentation Project. This nationwide effort provides consistent data for use by planners, governments, and bicycle and pedestrian professionals.
The data gathered is used to support funding requests, planning and development and to better understand the region's overall feelings and values about trails. Volunteers use nationally standardized methods for surveying and data recording in order to ensure consistent responses.
Tualatin has participated in this project for the past three years by doing trail user counts in September at locations along the Tualatin River Greenway. A summary report of recent counts can be found in the Intertwine Trail Use Snapshot 2008-2010 document.
If you’d like to volunteer to count trail users this coming September, we’d love to have you. Please call 503.691.3061 for more information.
