Get off the couch and into the fun!

Looking for something exciting to do in Tualatin? The City of Tualatin provides high quality, affordable, safe and FUN activities for teens. We have an excellent schedule of upcoming activities.

All teen programs require pre-registration and meet/end at the Van Raden Community Center unless noted!

August Activities

Wild Waves

Monday, August 9 from 7:30am - 8:30pm

Cool off on a hot summer day at Wild Waves! Come for the wave pool, water slides, wild rides and sunshine. Sign up early for this trip - spaces will fill quickly. Cost includes transportation, admission, and dinner. Bring a swimsuit, towel, sunblock, and water bottle, along with a sack lunch or money to buy lunch at the park. Cost $45 resident/ $56 nonresident.

Beat the SAT!

Tuesdays and Thursdays, August 17,19,24,26, and 31

10:00am - 12:00pm

Don't let your busy fall schedule get in the way of preparing for the October 9th SAT! This course is specifically designed to give you the leading edge when it comes to taking the SAT! Tuition includes course workbook, all materials, and practice tests. Taught by Academic Coach Elizabeth Petersen. For more information about the course, email gardenwrite@comcast.net. Cost $250 residents/ $320 nonresidents.

Beat the (Repeat) SAT!

Tuesdays and Thursdays, August 17,19,24,26, and 31

1:00pm - 3:00pm

Were your scores lower than you hoped? Get some focused instruction on how to retake the SAT. Instruction will focus on the critical reading, vocabulary, writing, and grammar portions of the test. Tuition includes course workbook, all materials, and practice tests. Taught by Academic Coach Elizabeth Petersen. For more information about the course, email gardenwrite@comcast.net. Skate School

August 23-27 from 10:00am -12:00pm

School's out, but this class is still in session! Whether you are just learning how to skate, or would like to polish your skills, this class is for you! Taught by EXIT Real World riders Erik and Kyle Billups, this is one school you don't want to skip! Bring your own skateboard, helmet required to participate. Cost $40 residents/ $50 nonresidents. The ZONE

Friday, August 27 from 7:00pm - 10:00pm

Nothing to do on Friday night? Come on out to the Van Raden Center for a night of games, movies, pool, foosball, snacks, prizes, and more! Bring your friends for a cheap night out of the house! The cost is only $3. No pre-registration required!

 

Summer Adventure Camp Program

Summer will be here before you know it! Ready to have the best one yet? The City of Tualatin is offering the popular Teen Adventure Camp Program June 22-August 26, 2010. Each session is jam-packed with exciting outdoor activities. This is your chance to learn to surf, try rock climbing, and brave the whitewater! Don't worry, no experience is necessary! We'll provide all the equipment and professional guides, you just bring a lunch and your sense of adventure!

Cost per session is $110 for Tualatin residents, $135 for non-residents and includes three days of activities, daily snacks, transportation, and any specialized gear.

Sessions run from 8:30am - 4:30pm, with extended supervision available from 8-8:30 and 4:30-5:30 for a cost of $5 per day. Bring a sack lunch and a water bottle.

August 24-26

Tuesday: Oregon Zoo Day

TEEN PROGRAM INFORMATION

To register for any of these programs, download the liability waiver/registration and medical information forms and return them to the Community Services Department before the registration deadline.

Eligibilty:

Our programs are open to all students currently in 6th-12th grades. Students transitioning from 5th to 6th grade over the summer are also welcome to participate. Priority given to Tualatin youth.

Location:

All programs or activities, unless otherwise stated, will meet/end at the City of Tualatin Van Raden Community Center at 8535 SW Tualatin Rd.

Registration Deadlines:

Registration ends one week before to the activity date, unless otherwise stated.  Programs will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Program registration is complete when payment and all program waivers have been received. If a program is full additional participant names will be put on a wait list and called if a spot becomes available.

Cancellation:

Programs are subject to cancellation due to weather, low enrollment or other reasons outside of our control. If a program is cancelled, we will inform you by phone.

Meals:

Most programs do not provide meals, so pack some food or snacks as appropriate. If provided, the program description will specify.

Refund:

It is our policy to refund 100% of the program fees if cancellation notice is given before the registration deadline ends. We will refund 50% of program fees if cancellation notice is given 24 hours in advance of the schedule program or event.
