Citizen Fires Warning Shot at Suspect of Car Break-In

On Monday, August 10, 2015, just after midnight, Tualatin Police responded to a report of a citizen holding a suspected car thief at gunpoint in the 17900 block of SW Sioux Court, in Tualatin.

The suspect was later identified as Chester John Friday, 24 year of age, of Tualatin. The victim reported that they initially saw the Mr. Friday inside their car, attempting to steal items.  When the victim went outside to confront Mr. Friday, he was then found inside the neighbor’s car, attempting to steal from it.

The victim held Mr. Friday at gunpoint, while his wife called police.  Mr. Friday charged at the victim, prompting the victim to fire a warning shot into the ground.  Mr. Friday then ran from the scene.  With the assistance of Tigard Police K9 and King City Police, a dog track located Mr. Friday and he was taken into custody without incident.

Mr. Friday was charged with three counts of unlawful entry into a motor vehicle and one count of third degree theft.  He was lodged in the Washington County Jail.  Booking photos can be obtained through the jail.
