Fireworks Safety

Now is the time to think about fireworks safety. Here are a few tips to consider...
1) Never allow young children to play with or ignite fireworks.
2) Always have an adult supervise fireworks activities, especially with sparklers.
3) Never carry fireworks in a pocket or shoot them off in metal or glass containers.
4) Back up to a safe distance immediately after lighting fireworks.
5) Never try to re-light or pick up fireworks that have not ignited fully.
6) Never point or throw fireworks at another person.
7) Never place a part of your body directly over a fireworks device when lighting.
8) Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose handy in case of fire and to douse used fireworks before discarding in trash.
9) Keep it legal.
10) Keep it safe.
Tualatin Police will be patrolling neighborhoods and issuing citations to those who violate the law. It is our goal to keep everyone safe and work together to avoid any unnecessary injuries or fires, as a result of illegal fireworks.
