Mayor's Note (December 2023/January 2024)

Mayor Frank Bubenik Headshot

The renaming of Stoneridge Park was officially approved by the City Council in response to requests from neighborhood and community members. This initiative, stemming from community involvement in the park's redesign starting in 2020, engaged over 420 individuals in selecting the favored name, Parque Las Casitas/Las Casitas Park.

This change is not just a shift in nomenclature; it's a powerful testament to the vibrant and dynamic spirit of our community. For years, the residents have affectionately referred to this beloved space as "Las Casitas," and the decision to officially adopt "Las Casitas Parque" is a beautiful reflection of the community's voice and identity.

The naming process involved community submissions, followed by a vote during iViva Tualatin!, where the top nine names were considered. These options were narrowed down to two during the National Night Out, clearly indicating Parque Las Casitas/Las Casitas Park as the preferred choice. The City is actively involved in the construction design and documentation phase, gearing up for the park's renovation, which is expected to commence in 2024.
