Tualatin Wins Prestigious LOC Award
Last month, the League of Oregon Cities selected Tualatin to receive the Helen and Alan Berg Good Governance Award for the Tualatin Moving Forward transportation bond program. The award recognizes city programs or events that have a specific purpose of reaching out to educate the public, and was renamed in 2010 in memory of two former Corvallis mayors who embodied its principles.
Tualatin Moving Forward is the City’s bond-funded transportation program approved by voters in 2018. The program ends in December. In just five years, 36 projects have been completed totaling $24.8 million to:
- Enhance traffic flow
- Improve neighborhood traffic safety
- Provide safe access to schools and parks
This prestigious award was presented to Mayor Frank Bubenik in a ceremony on October 13 at the culmination of the annual convention of the League of Oregon Cities, held this year in Eugene. Mayor Frank Bubenik and City Manager Sherilyn Lombos received the award. Sherilyn Lombos summed up: “This represents a total team effort – City Council, staff, engineers, contractors, and community members – over the full five years. Our partnership approach is the perfect formula for Good Governance.”
