WES Train Signal Testing 12/7-12/9/18

Tualatin WES Station Platform

TriMet and Portland & Western Railroad will be testing the WES train signal system between Beaverton and Wilsonville starting Friday night. You may hear the train horn or crossing arm bells late at night and in the early morning hours.  The upgrades will improve the safe operation of trains through Tualatin. The Federal Railroad Administration has required all railroads to implement such a Positive Train Control (PTC) system by Dec. 31, 2018.

Hours include:

o             Friday, Dec. 7, 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8

o             Saturday, Dec. 8, 8:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 9

o             Sunday, Dec. 9 to 4 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10

The work Sunday night into Monday morning will include trains testing the signal system, which will require trains to sound their horns even in designated quiet zones. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank neighbors for their patience as we work to make railroad operations safer for those onboard and nearby.
