Drug Detection K9

Officer Sam Radakovich and K9 Tony

Tualatin Police Department utilizes a drug detection canine named Tony.  He is a German Shepherd, born in the Czech Republic, who first came to us when he was 16 months old, in September 2016, from a kennel in Denver, Indiana. Officer Sam Radakovich is assigned as the department's K9 handler and he and Tony work an assigned shift, but also remain on-call to assist all patrol shifts in Tualatin, as well as other neighboring police agencies.

Officer Radakovich and K9 Tony completed and passed the basic narcotics canine school in early May 2022.  At that same time, they also completed and passed the narcotic detection standards training and certification test through the Oregon Police Canine Association.

K9 Tony will be used solely as a detection canine during drug investigations or incidents where there is suspicion of drug possession.  However, he is very friendly, mild-mannered and approachable, so don't be afraid to stop and greet him when you see him.
