Stay Safe This 4th of July

Tualatin Police K9

Oregon law forbids possession, use or sale of fireworks that fly, explode, or travel more than six feet on the ground or 12 inches in the air. A large concern of the Tualatin Police Department is that the number of individuals using illegal fireworks appears to be growing each year. Many fireworks purchased by mail order are illegal in Oregon. This includes bottle rockets, mortars, roman candles, firecrackers, and M80s.

Tualatin officers will be patrolling this 4th of July in an effort to keep our area neighborhoods safe.  Those found in violation of Oregon’s fireworks law face possible fines or arrest and officers may seize any illegal fireworks.  Offender may also be held liable and required to pay for damage caused by fire from misuse of fireworks.  Parents are liable for fireworks-caused damage by their children.

Tualatin Police and K9 Tony want you to have a safe and enjoyable holiday without unnecessary injury or fires. In working closely with our friends at Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue, we ask that you keep it safe, Keep it LEGAL!  To report illegal fireworks in your area, please call the non-emergency dispatch line at 503-629-0111.
